We’ve reached autumn, a time of year that I love. The crunchy yellow tree leaves fall, and all our favourite shops revamp the visual merchandising. Education ended a long time ago for me but, September always feels like a mini start to a new year because of the new academic year. The summer clothes go back in my suitcase for another year, and I get to wear all my boots again.
Autumn brings out some of my favourite colours to wear, khaki, brown and burgundy. Outside of the summer months I tend to always be cold so I get to layer up jumpers with leather jackets and create load of looks. There are a few fashion essentials I think are key to looking fly in Autumn. No excuses on getting your hands on them because I guarantee everywhere will have a version.
Knee/Thigh High Boots
What’s great about Thigh Highs is it always takes your look up a notch. Pair it with the most basic outfit and BOOM! Your legs look fabulous AND warm. It’s a win win situation. I would say that if they don’t have even a tiny heel, they’re not worth the hype. Leave them alone! They come in so many colours now that you could use a brighter shade as your statement piece. Joggers and tracksuits have always been a thing but from 2017 the whole co-ord movement has been taking over. It makes finding an outfit so much easier when you’re able to fling on something that matches with not too much thought put in. Towards the end of autumn its starts to get a tad bit nippy to wear the cute oversized tee with legs out. So I would suggest a jogger’s co ord, super trendy and keeping you nice and cosy at the same time. Dress it down or up, both work so well. Szavai has rocked an all white look featuring crisp white trainers which screams casual, cosy but cute. Follow her on the gram @szavai.brigi
I attended the London Fashion Week Festival earlier this year to see AW18 Collections and noticed a lot of prints from different designers. So it’s no surprise that autumn has brought us so much animal printed clothing, from snake to leopard print. I’ve never really been a fan because depending how its worn it can come across very tacky or very stylish, which isn’t a risk I have been willing to take. Miss Trina over here pulled it off perfectly, with a snakeskin shirt from Zara 2018 Fall Collection. Ankle Boots/Autumn Colours
It might be a slight reach, but I believe there is a type of ankle boot you could wear with every outfit, and that is why they are absolutely essential to have for autumn. With so much to choose from, you can never have too many, get yourself designer dupe for a fraction of the price if need be. We all saw how Yeezys took over the world. www.simmishoes.com has been one of my recent favourites for this. No need to keep up with the fortnightly pedicures like we did through summer, unless you’re wearing peep toe boots of course. Anyway, match this with an autumn colour and you’ve pulled off the season to a T. Melanie has put this look together exactly the same as I would have, and that tan blazer is giving me smart casual realness. During summer its all about the kimonos, so as we move into chillies months a great transitional piece is a Mac. You find something that is long line gives a more mature feel to your outfit. The traditional colour would be tan/beige but I would even reach for greys and khakis to give it a real autumn touch. If your feeling saucy, Macs normally come with a belt that allows you to cinch in your waist, I for one have no problem with that. Hinda took such a different approach to her trenchcoat look, wearing it casually and I think it works just as well. Follow her on @hinda_f96
These 5 pieces have already started off my Autumn. Do you think I’m missing anything?
